What We're About:

FUMCYOUTHBR is the youth ministry of First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We're a fun-loving group of students and caring adult leaders who love to gather for food, games and worship. We aim to fulfill the overall vision of FUMC, to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world!

Our home base is the Youth Building, most easily accessed on America Street. But you'll more likely find us all around Baton Rouge - for Tribes, Bible Studies, at your basketball games, at Cane's, and slipping and sliding on the levee!

FUMCYOUTHBR is:

Fun. Faith Games. Following Jesus. Mission trips. Tribes. What's Up Wednesdays. Bible study. Shenanigans. Pizza. Sunday school. Donuts. Nine Square in the Air. 18-hour bus rides. Easter Walks. Ski Retreats + so much more. But you'll have to come hang out with us to see it all!

FAQs:

How do I get involved?

1. The best place to start is at Sunday school. We meet each week for Sunday school onsite at FUMC. Breakfast is served, then we split into grades for a Bible lesson. Or show up on Sunday evening for Youth Night for dinner, fun games and prayer and worship!

2. If you like Sunday School or Youth Night, getting connected with some of those new friends in a Tribe is the next step! In tribes we grow deeper with Jesus and as friends. Register to get involved with a Tribe HERE

3. Check us out online - @fumcyouthbr and @fumcbr on Instagram or YouTube

Check the calendar for the next invite event: the Great Pumpkin Hunt, an All Nighter, Mardi Gras Ball, etc.

If you like those, you might also like to join in a mission trip, TREK or Ski Retreat! For more info about those, fill out the form in "Contact Us." Let the youth staff know you want to check it out, so we can help you have the best experience (especially if you require special dietary or other accommodations)!

Where do I go when I get there?

Sunday Mornings: All youth meet in the Youth Arcade in the 2nd floor of the youth building. Park in the America Street lot and enter through the covered doors pictured above. Take the elevator, or stairs (if you're into that sort of thing), to the 2nd floor. You'll be greeted by a smiling face and shown how to check in to the computer. Students hang out and eat breakfast, before breaking into your grade level for a discussion and teaching!

Tribes: If you have questions or need to get in contact with your leader, contact Kale at kwet@firstmethodist.org. Most tribes take a break from meeting during the winter and summer holidays.

Am I welcome? Who can be a part of FUMC Youth?

Any youth who wants to be there! Regardless of the church you attend, don’t attend, who you are or where you come from, we welcome all people who desire to follow Jesus and be in relationship with Him. Just come to Sunday school, Tribe, or an event, and you belong! We can’t wait to grow in faith together.

What's Available for Parents?

On Sunday mornings: Adult Sunday school groups meet at 9:45am and 11am. To find a Sunday school class for you contact FUMC's Director of Discipleship Pattye Hewitt, at phewitt@firstmethodist.org or visit the FUMC Website.

Parent support is essential to the Youth Ministry at FUMC. Complete this survey to find where you can join in the fun of FUMCYOUTHBR and meet other parents in the process!
